Pairing Mode – a state required to establish a connection between LuON devices and the LuBase hub.
luonOS – the software managing the smart home system and LuON devices.
LuBase – the heart of the system, the hub that allows you to control all LuON devices.
LuHome – the application for managing the smart home.
LuAiR – a radio communication system using the ESP-NOW protocol.

LuBase is required to enable LuBulb to work with HomeKit technology. See www.luon.eu for more details.

How to start pairing mode

ITo correctly install a new light bulb, you should connect it to the power source. After connecting, the light bulb will automatically activate the pairing mode, which will be indicated by glowing at maximum brightness. Then, for 10 minutes, the light bulb is in pairing mode. After this time, if necessary, you can re-enter pairing mode by disconnecting the light bulb from the power for 5 seconds and then connecting it again.

Resetting the bulb to factory settings

If you are unable to enter pairing mode, you should restore the bulb to factory settings. To reset the light bulb to factory settings, follow these steps:

  • Turn off the light bulb from the power for 2 seconds.
  • Connect the light bulb to the power for 5 seconds.
  • Disconnect the light bulb from the power for 2 seconds.
  • Connect the light bulb to the power for 5 seconds.
  • Disconnect the light bulb from the power for 2 seconds.
  • Connect the light bulb to the power for 10 seconds.
  • Disconnect the light bulb from the power for 2 seconds.
  • Connect the light bulb to the power for 5 seconds.
  • Disconnect the light bulb from the power for 2 seconds.
  • Connect the light bulb to the power for 5 seconds.
  • Disconnect the light bulb for 2 seconds.
  • After 2 seconds, connect the light bulb to the power (the light bulb has been reset to factory settings).

During pairing, the light bulb flashed green

If the light bulb flashed green during the pairing mode, it means that it has been successfully added to the luonOS system.

During pairing, the light bulb flashed red

If the light bulb flashed red during the pairing mode, it indicates that an issue occurred, and the pairing failed. In such a situation, disconnect the light bulb from the power for 5 seconds and reconnect it. Then, repeat the pairing process. If the error occurs again, reset the light bulb to factory settings and repeat the pairing process.

Bulb flashes red after pairing time has elapsed:

If, after the pairing time has elapsed, the light bulb flashed red, it may indicate the need for a reset to factory settings. Additionally, such a symptom could be caused by too big distance between the light bulb and LuBase or other devices transmitting the LuAiR signal. In this case, consider installing a device that extends the wireless communication signal between the light bulb and LuBase, or temporarily place the light bulb in a different location during pairing.

Initiating the pairing process

To initiate the pairing process of the bulb with the LuBase hub, ensure that the light bulb is within no more than 8 meters from the hub. After successful pairing, it is possible to place the light bulb at a greater distance from the hub, provided that within its range there are other devices communicating through LuAiR, which can relay the signal further.

How to pair the light bulb using the app

To add a light bulb to the luonOS system using the LuHome application, first put it in pairing mode, then click “Search for device.” Follow the instructions displayed on the LuHome application screen in the subsequent steps.

How to pair the light bulb with LuBase without using the app

To pair a light bulb with the LuBase hub without using the application, put it in pairing mode, then press and hold the reset button on LuBase for 6 seconds. If the devices are successfully paired, the light bulb and LuBase will flash green. If the devices flashes red, refer to the section “During pairing, the light bulb flashed red.”

Attention!

Devices (other than light bulbs) may require additional steps to connect them directly to the light bulb. Be sure to check the instructions for the device you want to connect to the light bulb without using the application and LuBase.
